I Am Betting On Us
The daily news cycle.
Another political election.
“Keeping up” on social media.
Negative relationships that consume us.
The push to get the kids to a higher level in less time.
Every once in a while we “snap out” of the short game. Some event or situation wakes us up for a moment. We take a hard look at ourselves and talk about how it’s going to be different this time — that, finally, we will remember what’s truly important.
Then of course, we drift back to the old ways. Once again we immerse ourselves into the short game. We become reactive to situations out of our control.
“They” are betting against you.
More and more outside forces fiercely battle for your attention. They need you in THEIR short game — that familiar place where they connect you to false information, negative distractions, and upside down priorities.
I am betting on us.
Your attention is your precious asset. You refine and honor it when you:
Let go
Self invest
Choose better
Incorporate silence
Expand boundaries
Be more grateful for life’s long game
When I was stuck in the short game, this is the framework I used — and still use today — to move over to the long game. This framework anchors my life, growth, and relationships.
It was a good way to bet on myself. It is great to bet on us.
