Boston Marathon Finish Line, April 14, 2019

We have heard the adage, “It’s not a sprint; it’s a marathon.”

On the bus ride to the start of the Boston Marathon, I reflect upon this statement. To choose “to marathon” is to choose small steps of courage, discipline, and patience every day.

If we are true to the “every day” part, small steps become small sprints.

What made last week’s Boston Marathon special was not only its 30,000 marathoners but the millions of small sprints strategically practiced every day.

You do not need to run the Boston Marathon to practice such sprints.

With gratitude,

-Joe
