I know gratitude sounds great on the surface to many people but it’s very hard to explain the powerful change in disposition it has one us when practiced EVERY DAY for years. One of my personal projects right now is the advocation for young athletes to keep a training log and ask themselves this single question every night before going to sleep:
“How did you serve your sport today?”
It’s not only encouraging young people to find something in which to be grateful to their activity and recognizing the value of being a part of something bigger than them, but, feeling the pain if they leave that answer blank.
