Thanks Jay — I had a coach (in whitewater slalom canoe racing) who used to say that it took extreme rationality to succeed at the highest level. What rational person would put off family, education, wealth, friendships in pursuit of something narrow? And then in a sport like canoeing, spend hours at dark:30 on freezing cold January training sessions on the Potomac River. The irrational has to overcome the rational to pull it all off!
